Frequently Asked Questions

What's A BatikBaby

It's the name for my website.  I had to come up with something catchy, so I looked at what I was planning on selling and got a little "groovy" with it.  BatikBaby.Com is more than just Batiks or Baby things.  Imagine if you will Austin Powers saying "Bahteek Baybee". Wink wink, nudge nudge.

What The Heck Is Batik, Anyways?

Batik is a traditional Indonesian handicraft of applying dye to fabric in interesting floral and animal patterns and geometric shapes.  It's quite amazing to see it being made.

Who Are You?

I'm Nina - SAHM* to two lovely daughters affectionately known as "The Princesses Ella " and one son - Lorenzo "the Magnificent" as well as wife to Surya - an Indonesian national.

So What Is With All The Indonesian Stuff?

As I mentioned above, my hubby is from Indonesia.  His mom is the coolest lady.  She brings me presents.  And what presents they are!  She has given me lots of traditional handicrafts and other goodies that are pretty unique for our half of the world.

Between that and trying to find an armoire (everything I found was FROM Indonesia but cost the same as the car payment on an H2), I figured I could probably do pretty well if I passed on some of the things that I picked up when I traveled to visit my in-laws.

Is That ALL You Carry?

Well, yes and no.  Most of what I have *came* from Indonesia but isn't necessarily batik or handcrafts.

How Often Do You Restock?  Can I Get Custom Stuff?

I try to get a decent amount of items when I go to visit my in-laws.  We usually travel over with one suitcase and come back with 6.  I can carry a TON of stuff that way.  If I need to get something FAST, my MIL can airmail it to me and I can get it within a week or so.  I try to keep a bunch of stuff on hand.  Due to the nature of most of these items, some are first come/first served. I try to note this if possible.  If I can NOT get more of an item, I will let you know as soon as that information becomes available to me.  We have plans for a trip in the fall of 2007 for my brother-in-law's wedding.  If this wedding actually happens, I'll be restocking on that trip.  My MIL is coming for Christmas holidays this year, too, so I can have her bring me stuff then as well.
